Card / Hand Nicknames

Term Description
Paint King, Queen or Jack.
Pair Two cards of the same rank.
Pass To fold.
Pat Hand A hand in draw poker which does not need any additional cards drawn to.
Pay Off To call on the final round of betting when you don't have the best hand.
Picture Card King, Queen or Jack.
Play Back To raise or re-raise another player's bet or raise.
Play the Board To make your best hand using only community cards.
Pocket A player's down cards.
Pocket Pair A pair in the player's down cards.
Position A player's location and betting order in relation to the other player's.
Post To make a blind bet.
Pot The money or chips that are the prize for winning a hand.
Pot Limit Betting structure where the maximum bet equals the size of the pot.
Pot Odds The amount of money in the pot versus the amount of money required to call the current bet.
Prop A player hired by a poker room to play poker and start games.
Push Going all in.
Put Down To fold.
